PHYSICAL PROPERTIES.
The heartwood is brown to yellow, darkens considerably as it ages and is shiny without streaks. The colour of the sapwood is distinct from that of the heartwood. The vessels are scattered and form fine needle cracks in the longitudinal section. Dibetou is easy to work. The tools must nevertheless be very sharp, especially in the case of transverse processing.
